Traditional Chinese Medicine and Wellness

TCM is based, at least in part, on the Daoist belief that we live in a universe in which everything is interconnected. The mind and body are not viewed separately, but as part of an energetic system. Along with acupuncture, TCM incorporates adjunctive techniques such as moxibustion; massage techniques such as tuina and gua sha; herbal medicine; diet and lifestyle changes; meditation; and exercise (often in the form of qigong or tai chi).

My consultations are based in all the TCM techniques, besides lifestyle changes including detox programms, herbal supplements..

Lately, I have been deepening my skills on women's health, functional medicine, nutrition and Western/Eastern herbs.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is perhaps the most ancient oriental system of Chinese medicine, which is the surface application of very thin needles at points along the 'meridian' - energy lines throughout the body, directing energy to where it is most needed, flowing naturally.

The acupuncturist has the obligation to perform an energetic diagnosis. It can be performed using various methods to bring balance, physiological and psycho-organic harmonization.

It can gradually stabilize the natural flow of Qi- Energy and bring harmony to the whole body and mind. Also evaluates subtle disharmonies, aiming to transmute self dysfunctions. It is a preventive and informative work. Acupuncture is an art and a philosophy of life!

Cupping

It is one of the branches of TCM and involves the use of bamboo, rubber or glass rounded containers, which are usually placed over the back or at specific places, for example shoulders and neck, to create a vacuum and thereby pull the blood to the skin surface.
This suction therapy gathers the blood and treats physical and energetic imbalances such as rheumatism, asthma, chronic pain, colds, muscle tension and etc.

It is most used in cases of:   Chronic pain, • Arthritis • Menstrual Pain • Muskuloskeletel Disorders • Fatigue • Digestive problems.

Moxibustion

This therapy is used to promote blood circulation and bring warmth to the body. Also removes energy blockages (moves Qi and Blood), eliminating pain and bringing a deep sense of relaxation and overall revitalization.

Moxibustion implies on burning a herb known as Artemisia Vulgaris, at specific acupuncture points or on a large area of the body.

Holistic Nutrition

Recently, our nutrition has been a huge factor of misinformation. We have observed that several scientific studies have brought mixed results regarding food consumption. Today, choosing what’s best for you, from more than a hundred types of diet, is a big challenge.

Eating well is more than just eating vegetables, fruits and clean protein. The background and its origin it is vitally important. Healthy food also means organic, natural, without pesticides, hormones, chemicals, preservatives, colorings and antibiotics.

My studies comprehend an extensive research on eastern and western philosophies and how to consume our food!

Herbalism

Western an Oriental herbs are used in the treatments with other healing tools for self-haling as well.

I use as herbal supplements, Chinese formulas, teas, tinctures, baths and creams.
